P1 Potong or P1 Sotong

I am now using P1 for my new house. At times, the darn thing works very well. At other times, it sucks. It is not very fast, but better than Maxis or Celcom. Yet to try DiGi here (Kota Kemuning). Using P1's test tools, I can get a good reading. I do notice that changing the DNS server to OpenDNS helps (especially with Streamyx).

For all DNS server changes, the settings must be made at the modem (DSL or P1) for it to be effective. I have noted that changes on the PC (Windows Vista / 7) is kind of useless.

Back to P1. What's the verdict? I will keep it for now. I am unsure if I would want it in the long term. It isn't that much cheaper. It isn't any faster than Streamyx. The only good thing is, my Streamyx service is heck a lot better in USJ since P1 has been launched. TM has fibre optics to the area now. I wonder what took those buggers so long.

In short, regardless is P1 Wimax useful or not, it sure has Streamyx / TM pulling up their socks. Competition is always good.

Back in action

Well, it has been a bloody long time since I've updated my blog. Many things have happened and I will try to update as many as I can. I am back in action - in more than once sense of the phrase.

MCA has just been saved.

The outcome of the MCA results would have been the best for MCA. I do not support MCA but when there is a good lesson, I give them credit. Ong Tee Keat lost. Dr. Chua Sok Lek lost. In any case, my engine oil is filthy (12,000 km already). On the way back from Skudai to KL, I got only about 13.5km/l. In short - test not conclusive.

Last week, I didn't put in any Automax in the tank, but there must be about 100ppm (recommended 200ppm - or 1ml to 5litres of petrol). Guess what - I got 15.5km/l, driving around KL! Wow. But that could be due to two reasons - it is either Automax or PRIMAX95. So for this week, no more additive into PRIMAX95. My dad complains hell alot about PRIMAX95. Says his car is worse off with more vibrations.

So, this is at best not conclusive. Wondering what the actual results would be... anyone tested this product well?

If it was so good...
